Genuine CERBEC® silicon nitride balls are used in Medical/Dental equipment to improve Bearing Performance. CERBEC balls are lighter, stiffer, smoother, harder, corrosive resistant, require less lubrication and have lower thermal expansion than their steel counterparts which allow the bearing to run at higher speeds, higher operational temperatures with lower torque. CERBEC balls perform well in Medical / Dental for hygiene (contamination-free), and durability reasons.
Autoclaving (heat sterilization) of dental tools provides the best protection against communicable diseases; however the process can severly limit the life of the handpiece bearings. The lubrication normally required for steel ball bearings does not stand up to the high temperatures induced during sterilization.
Bearings manufactured with CERBEC ceramic balls require no lubrication. This provides much greater life to the dental handpiece, increases productivity by eliminating time-consuming (and messy) relubrication, as well as preventing any chance of residual lubricant being expelled into the oral cavity.
Unlike steel bearings, dental air turbine bearings with CERBEC balls maintain a low coefficient of friction, exhibit little heat buildup, reduced maintenance and longer life of the dental tool.
