Genuine CERBEC® silicon nitride balls are used in Electro-Mechanical equipment to improve Bearing Performance. CERBEC balls are lighter, stiffer, smoother, harder, corrosion resistant, require less lubrication and have lower thermal expansion than their steel counterparts which allow the bearing to run at higher speeds, higher operational temperatures with less lubrication. CERBEC balls function as insulation in Electro-mechanical applications and are extremely durable.

Key Benefits

Example: Electric-Motors

Adjustable frequency motors are widely used to vary the motor speed for applications requiring varying loads. These motors can generate stray currents that result in electrical arcing through the metal balls which can often cause bearing failure. To minimize the problem, special coatings can be applied to the outer race, however the process is time-consuming, costly and not perfectly reliable. A better solution is the use of CERBEC ceramic balls which provide electrical insulation, increased bearing performance, and reliability.

Aside from arcing, lubrication problems (too much, too little, contaminations, etc) are the greatest failure mode of most electric motors. CERBEC balls greatly reduce lubrication problems by lowering operating temperatures and providing hard particle resistance.
